Founded in 1998, teams of lawyers from high profile practices in the North West gathered together to develop specialist services in main stream criminal defense, serious crime, commercial fraud and prison law. Draycott Browne has developed a niche in these specialist legal services.

The Objective

Due to office relocation, Draycott Browne Solicitors commissioned a report reviewing existing business telephone systems and communications as they wished to ascertain what part of the existing infrastructure could be relocated and which elements could be justifiably renewed.

The Challenge

Further improvements in client communication and between their 63 back-office staff spread across multiple offices was requested. Fee-earners wished to work from their most convenient location. A reduction in operating costs was required together with maximixing their fee-earners available time AND ensuring an element of business continuity was wrapped around the solution.

The Solution

A substantial reduction in operating costs was achieved through ensuring all calls to and from the practice owned mobile GSM phones and PDA devices were routed via a unique mobile gateway. This was self-funding on a monthly basis, and added a layer of business continuity. Should inbound calls to the main office number fail through either a local exchange or public network fault, then calls could immediately and automatically be routed inbound via the GSM network into the telecoms system which was still operating fine. Call charges were also allocated the low cost Matrix247LAW tariff plan.

Draycotts used a proportion of the telecom savings achieved to refresh to the very latest telecom and data cabling system together with a private leased line to ensure both staff and clients received exceptional call quality on transfers between sites and enabled 23 partners ‘IP’ telephones at remote locations to become extensions on the centralized telephony system in Manchester HQ.

Draycotts now required only one main telephony system, not one at each location. This saved on equipment, reduced the potential for faults to occur which in turn reduced support costs. Draycotts ‘Go Green’ environmental policy was also enhanced as it reduced the equipment ‘on-premise’. Access to important messages enabling anytime, anywhere retrieval was realized through the latest voice-mail technologies, ideal for fee earners.

Further savings were realised through dealing directly with Matrix247 for a specific mobile ‘bundle’ that law companies have access too when renewing both GSM and partner PDA devices. Two additional layers of Business Continuity were advised with savings achieved. An improved air equipment cooling system to ensure optimum performance and ensuring all key processors and servers running key telecom applications was hooked up to uninterruptable power supplies.
